New Subsea Camera

SEES in Low Light Conditions and Offers 360-degree Viewing

EV Offshore , a leading provider of downhole, subsea and well intervention camera inspection solutions, has introduced the Excalibur, a new subsea camera module that provides even more flexibility to the established CamScanEVO2 inspection system.

The CamScan EVO2 well-bore inspection camera is now complemented by a second custom camera that makes it possible to inspect pipelines, risers and caissons with extremely small internal diameters.
“It is designed to make it possible to view difficult, previously inaccessible areas, which is critical to effectively pinpoint the cause of the problems our clients are experiencing,” said David Clover, Operations Director for EVO.

“Because many inspection operations we carry out are unique, we are continually challenged to create a custom engineering solution that responds effectively to the client’s individual situation. As a result, the range of our solutions continues to evolve, which is a credit to the design flexibility of our CamScan system that allows us to interface with different modules.”

Offering the industry’s highest quality images of pipeline interiors of a wide range of diameters, the Excalibur camera is unique in its ability to cope with low light situations and to rotate continuously.

This is made possible because of its core element, the 360-degree rotation capability, which offers unrestricted viewing to the pipewall.
The camera can also be fitted with a down view module, instead of the snub-nose, which allows simultaneous down view. This subsea camera carries out a complicated emergency riser inspection deployed from a platform to water depths in excess of 650ft (200m).

Measuring just 23⁄8 inches (60mm) and weighing only 2.2 kg, the Excalibur is compact, slim and extremely lightweight that it can be used to negotiate 3D radius bends in pipelines with diameters as small as 84mm. By paying particular attention to lighting and optics, the camera can give equally clear images for close-up work in narrow bore pipework or larger diameter pipes.
