Purified tap water safer in the UAE

A UAE water sampling reveals that purified tap water is safer and healthier than bottled water.
 The sampling carried out by Euro Forbes in the UAE shows that tap water in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and much of Sharjah contain safe levels of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) at 140-250 mg/litre.
World Health Organisation’s drinking water guidelines specify a maximum TDS level of 500mg/litre.
Jagdish Shahani, vice president, international sales and marketing, Euro Forbes said: "The UAE has the highest per capita consumption of bottled water - approximately 265 litres per year. Research shows that toxins from the plastic of bottles can leach into the water, and high temperatures exacerbate this process.
“"TDS in water comprises inorganic salts and small amounts of organic matter, which are not usually harmful to humans. TDS mainly affects the taste, hardness and incrustation properties of water."
New purifiers launched
In line of this study, Forbes has launched four water purification products in the UAE: Reviva, I-Nova, Designa, and the Hot and Cold Water Purifier cum Dispenser.
Forbes Reviva uses reverse osmosis technology, while I-Nova uses an ultraviolet lamp, a sediment filter to catch floating particles, and an Activated Carbon Filter to remove chlorine and potentially harmful chemicals. Forbes Designa has similar technology to I-Nova and has been upgraded to match the décor of modern kitchens.
The Forbes Hot and Cold Water Purifier cum Dispenser has Ultra Filtration technology. UF is a fine membrane that removes germs, bacteria and viruses from water. The system uses a special heating coil to heat water up to 90 degree C, and a compressor for making water ice cold.
Forbes I-Nova is priced at AED790 and Forbes Designa costs AED550. Better Life will retail the Forbes product range at all outlets across the UAE.
