J.Ray McDermott wins two contracts offshore Saudi Arabia

Two of J. Ray McDermott’s subsidiaries will design, build and install offshore platforms and pipelines for Saudi Aramco.
Both contracts are lump sum turnkey and these are the first such contracts for Saudi Aramco to commission in the offshore environment.

Ray McDermott, S.A. said: “We have a strong relationship with Saudi Aramco, and have successfully worked on many of their projects over the years. It is especially gratifying to be selected by Saudi Aramco to perform this work and expand our relationship.
“We expect our operations in the Middle East to grow this year and we intend to improve our production capacity to six million man-hours to cater to our increasing backlog of work.”
Under the first contract J. Ray will undertake detail engineering, purchase materials, build and install five topsides, weighing over 2,870MT, as well as one interconnecting bridge; two wellhead jackets and a tie-in jacket weighing over 4,300MT; and a subsea template to support pipeline installation in the Safaniya and Zuluf fields. Construction activities will begin at J. Ray’s Jebel Ali yard mid summer 2006.
In addition to the platforms, J. Ray’s marine operations will install three 16” pipelines tot aling over 17km in length, in the Zuluf and Safaniya fields; as well as one 4km 20” pipeline and two 16” lines tot aling 1.6km in the Safaniya field. Once installed, J. Ray’s offshore crew will pre-commission the platforms and pipelines, scheduled for completion by the end of 2007.
Under the second contract J. Ray will install a 30” gas trunkline approximately 20km long from Abu Ali Island to Khursaniyah. J. Ray’s in-house engineering division, Mentor Subsea will perform pipeline engineering and the company’s marine fleet will install the pipeline scheduled for completion by early summer 2007.
