Arab environmental vision urged

Egyptian Minister of State for Environmental Affairs Majed George called for an Arab vision reflecting regional and international environmental issues and their impact on Arab nations.
In a speech addressing the ninth annual secretary generals meeting of the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe , George said that Arab environment has been facing demanding challenges that required comprehensive planning.
He noted that pollution, mines and environmental deterioration in Iraq , Sudan and Palestine should be conscientiously considered by the international community. While stressing Arab nations' rights to live in a safe environment, he urged Arab investors to contribute to environmental development by pursuing projects in Arab states.
The two-day conference seeks to address a proposal of establishing Arab Environment facility to fund environmental projects in the Arab countries and follow up the implementation of int'l summit resolutions.
