Subsea 7 Awarded US $7M contract by Malaysia

Subsea 7 was awarded a contract valued at US$7M by Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad (MISC).

The contract is for the installation of the mooring system for a floating storage offloading unit (FSO) consisting of twelve piles for the FSO and two piles for a shuttle tanker.  Subsea 7 will also undertake the installation of the FSO including tensioning of the mooring chains, installation of flexible hose and fibre optic cables as well as leak testing, dewatering and nitrogen drying of the flexible hoses.  The project will take place offshore the East Coast of West Malaysia in a water depth of approximately 80 metres.

The project duration, which commences immediately, will take approximately four months with Subsea 7’s multipurpose support vessel Rockwater 2 undertaking the installation of the mooring system in June/July this year.  An ROV Support Vessel and Anchor Handling Tugs will be used to tow and install the FSO in late July early August.

Subsea 7’s Vice Pr esident, Asia Pacific, Martin Ridley said, “We are pleased to be taking part in this  installation project with MISC, and look forward seeing the floating storage offloading unit fully operational”.
