Yemen Receives Bids to Run Container Port in Eden
Posted: 20 April 2005
The Yemen ministry of transport announced that it will receive on next Wednesday the bids from the international businesses to run the container port in Eden.
"Seven international businesses have submitted their bids to carry out this project for two months", Mohammad Salem Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Transport, said. Salem added that many businesses will be selected for the negotiations that will be held before signing the final contract. The Yemen government has terminated the contract with the Yemen Global Investment on running the free zone in the end of 2003 against a compensation deal of $ 200 million then authorized the separation between the free zone and the container port. But a parliamentary report has been issued later to abolish the legal authenticity of the government decision.
