Transworld group of companies signs contracts to build four new feeder container vessels for 100 million dollars

Transworld Group of Companies has awarded contracts to build four feeder container vessels to Singapore Technologies Marine Ltd (ST Marine).
The four feeder container vessels worth approximately $100 million ordered by the Transworld Group through its subsidiaries Shreyas Shipping Ltd India, Shreyas World Navigation Singapore, Orient Express Lines Dubai, are 1030 TEU (twenty feet equivalent units) vessels with a minimum length of 148 metres. At a design draft of 7.3 metres the vessels are capable of achieving 19 knots. The vessels will be fitted with two cargo cranes along the centre line of the vessels to suit various loading and offloading requirements at different ports of call.

Founded in 1976, Transworld Group specialises in common carrier feeder services, ship agencies, logistics services, inland transportation, container freight stations, ship and marine container repairs. Its ship-owning subsidiaries own and operate 16 container vessels with capacities ranging from 500 to 1200 TEU's. The vessels are chartered to in-house or third party feeder operators.
Delivery of the first vessel is expected in the third quarter of 2007 and the second vessel in the fourth quarter of 2007.
