Tidalmarine syndicate hands over Mini Finger Fujairah Pier project to Vopak

Two new berths consolidate Fujairah 's position as increasingly important global bunker market -
The flagship joint venture led by Tidalmarine Engineering, Malaysia and B.V. Ingenieursbureau M.U.C of The Netherlands, handed over the Mini Finger project comprising Berths 3 and 4 to Vopak Horizon Fujairah on March 20 th.
One of the two new berths would be dedicated for the exclusive use of vessels belonging to ENOC Bunkering Fujairah Limited (EBFL), a subsidiary of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC). The additional capacity will allow EBFL to expand its leading local market share, with current annual sales exceeding 2 million tonnes, and assist it with expansion into other geographic regions and to meet client demand.
"The bunker market in Fujairah is well known around the world, and with the addition of Berths 3 and 4, we consolidate our position in the global marketplace,” said H.E. Saif Sultan Saeed, Chief Sponsor, TME/Vopak, also representing the Private Affairs Bureau of H.H. Sheikh Hamad Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah.
“The two new berths will cater primarily to Fujairah's growing bunker fuel market, as well as support imports of oils and petrochemicals, and exports of petrochemical projects currently in development' ," he added.
The Tidalmarine–MUC joint venture handles the design and built contracting, Tidalmarine Engineering SDN BHD of Malaysia acts as main contractors and B.V. Ingenieursbureau M.U.C acts as design consultants.
Dr. Nik Mohammad Kamel, President and Managing Director of Tidalmarine Group of Companies, announced that the first ship moored at Berth 3 on February 17, and at Berth 4 on February 28. He said that in order to ensure the successful implementation of this project, the Group invested in the purchase of a barge, called the Marabou, which is equipped with a 200 tonne crawler crane and a specially designed piling frame. The barge complete with crane, was mobilised from Malaysia , and later fitted with a piling frame, in Fujairah . The piling frame, designed by MUC, is capable of handling and driving of tubular steel piles up to three meters in diameter.
Our investment in the Marabou and its associated equipment is worth almost 3 million Euros (AED 14 million). This shows our commitment towards continued preparation for job opportunities in the marine construction sector in the Middle East ," Dr. Kamel added.
