Progress on Offshore Arabia 2006

Send this news

Recently some members of the past committees of ‘Offshore Arabia 2004’ Conference & Exhibition met in Dubai to discuss the path forward for the next event in 2006. The meeting covered many issues such as the proposed committee members for ‘Offshore Arabia 2006’, the progress calendar, the theme of the event, the ‘Call for Papers’, workshops, key note speakers and presenters.

The event will be supported by all Recso members and the teams therefore will all be comprised from the member companies. Recso has already received the nominations from the member companies and the first official Technical Committee meeting has been scheduled for the 21st of November 2005. As for the first meeting of all committees that has been scheduled for the first week of December.

A theme for the next conference was decided upon after hours of debating and brainstorming. We believe it encompasses all of Recso’s values and will bring to the fore new issues that we felt needed to be urgently addressed. We want to make sure that with every conference we bring attention to other relevant issues then the ones that are usually touched upon.

Recso’s main objective is that these conferences add real value and do not become repetitive. Our aim is to find real solutions to real problems that threaten our waters and coastlines in the Gulf. Therefore, we have decided to widen the scope of the topics and offer an opportunity to our speakers to be able to pick and choose the topics they feel are really important and not receiving enough attention.

We hope to improve the conference as we go along and therefore we have made some minor changes to the next event. For instance, we have decided to include two plenary sessions each morning of the event to make it more interesting and beneficial. The speakers will be special guests and well known experts who will speak about their experiences with certain situations.

A team of professional designers from Index have already started to work on the design for the ‘Call for Papers’ and once that is done they will be mailed out and the process started.

Recso has taken the initiative of seeking support from other marine environment organizations in the Gulf so that this conference can be owned by all within the field and be a concerted effort by everyone to work as a team in trying to keep our waters clean. We hope that by starting to work together on this project it will eventually lead us to working more closely on others. We are happy to announce that so far we have received many positive responses to our request for support.
We still have many topics to cover and many details to iron out.

However, we feel that we have started off in the right direction and we know that as we gain more experience with each event we will be able to enhance the event further. We will continue to inform our readers of our progress as we go along.
